Individual Therapy · Billings, MT
You've Been Carrying This Long Enough.
Individual therapy for adults in Billings, MT and across Montana via telehealth. Real tools, real change. No waitlist, no judgment.
You Are Not Alone
A Space That's Entirely Yours
Most people who come to Brighter Sky Counseling aren't in crisis - they're just tired. Tired of the same patterns. Tired of managing everything alone. Tired of feeling like they should have figured this out by now.
You don't have to have it all figured out before you call us. Individual therapy is a dedicated hour each week that belongs entirely to you - to say the things you don't say anywhere else, to understand yourself more deeply, and to build a life that actually feels like yours.
Our therapists in Billings work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, major life transitions, grief, and struggles with self-worth. Whoever you are, whatever you're carrying - there's a therapist here who gets it.
Common Reasons Adults Seek Therapy
What We Help With
Anxiety & Stress
Constant worry, racing thoughts, social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD - learn to quiet the noise and trust yourself again.
Depression
Low motivation, persistent sadness, disconnection from things you used to love - therapy helps you find your way back to yourself.
Work & Burnout
Exhaustion that doesn't go away with a vacation. Career stress, professional identity struggles, and the slow erosion of who you are outside of work.
Life Transitions
Divorce, a new city, a new role, a loss - major changes can shake your sense of self. Therapy helps you find solid ground again.
Grief & Loss
The death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, or a loss that others don't understand. Grief does not follow rules. And neither does healing.
Self-Confidence
Imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, self-doubt, perfectionism - therapy helps you understand where these patterns came from and how to change them.
The Therapy Experience
What to Expect
Reach Out & Get Matched
Contact us by phone or through our website. Our friendly front desk team - you'll likely be greeted by one of our therapy dogs - will ask a few questions about what you're looking for and match you with the right therapist. We currently have no waitlist, so you can often be seen within days.
Your First Session
The first session is about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask questions about your life, your goals, and what's bringing you in. You don't need to have a perfectly formed "problem" - many people start simply by saying "I just haven't felt like myself." That's more than enough to begin.
Building a Plan Together
After your first session, you and your therapist will begin shaping a treatment approach built around your specific goals. Therapy at BSC is collaborative - you're not a passive recipient of advice. You're an active participant in your own growth, and your therapist's job is to be your most skilled thinking partner.
Ongoing Weekly Sessions
Most adult clients meet weekly, typically for 50-minute sessions. Consistency matters - the breakthroughs in therapy often come not in the big dramatic moments, but in the steady accumulation of honest conversation over time. You'll know you're making progress when the things that once felt impossible start to feel manageable.
In-Person or Telehealth - Your Choice
We see adult clients at our West End Billings office - easy parking, no escalators or confusing hallways, just a warm reception area and a comfortable therapy room. Can't make it in? Every service we offer is also available via secure telehealth video throughout Montana. Same quality of care, wherever you are.
How We Work
Our Approach to Adult Therapy
There is no single "right" way to do therapy, and we do not believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. Our therapists are trained in a range of evidence-based approaches and will tailor their work to what fits you: your personality, your goals, and your pace.
Evidence-Based
We use approaches that have been proven to work - CBT, DBT, EMDR, mindfulness-based therapy, and more - matched to your specific needs.
Collaborative
You set the direction. Your therapist brings the tools, the training, and a non-judgmental space. Progress happens when you feel genuinely heard.
Whole-Person
We look at your relationships, your history, your body, and your beliefs - not just your symptoms. Real change goes deeper than managing behaviors.
Common Questions
FAQ
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and others. We also accept Medicaid and Medicare, though there may be a waitlist for those plans. Contact our front desk and we'll confirm whether we are in-network with your plan. You can also visit our rates and insurance page for more information.
How do I know which therapist is right for me?
Our front desk team is trained to match you with a therapist based on your specific needs, preferences, and scheduling. If you try a therapist and the fit doesn't feel right, we'll help you find someone better suited - no awkwardness, no pressure.
Is there really no waitlist?
For most insurance plans, yes - we currently have no waitlist and can typically schedule your first appointment within a few days. Medicaid and Medicare clients may experience a short wait due to provider availability.
What if I've never been to therapy before?
That's completely okay - and honestly, many of our most committed clients are first-timers. You don't need to know how therapy works before you start. Your therapist will walk you through everything, and there are no expectations except showing up and being honest.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
This varies widely depending on what you're working on. Some clients reach their goals in 8-12 sessions. Others find ongoing therapy valuable for months or years. There's no pressure either way - you stay as long as it's helpful, and leave when you're ready.
Can I do telehealth instead of coming in person?
Absolutely. All of our therapists offer secure video sessions available to anyone in Montana. Many clients start in-person and switch to telehealth for convenience, or alternate between both. The quality of care is the same either way.
Ready to Start?
Taking the first step is often the hardest part. Our team makes it easy - reach out today and we'll match you with the right therapist, verify your insurance, and get you scheduled fast.
